Age Verification

The age verification in connection with the Gimel Wallet works by using digital proof of identity and special verification methods:

1. One-off Registration: The user registers in the Gimel Wallet and verifies their identity by uploading their official identity documents, such as a national ID card (e.g., German “Personalausweis” via the eID app)
2. One-off Upgrade: The user uses the Gimel ID to upgrade their national ID by our premium security protocol (optionally)
3. Authentication: The user must confirm their identity using various MFA methods, such as a password, authenticator app or additional biometric data (e.g., fingerprint, face recognition)
4. Age verification: If the user needs access to content or services that require age verification, they can prove their age through the Gimel Wallet by presenting the verified identity data
5. Security measures: The stored data is encrypted and stored securely on the user’s smartphone to ensure data protection and security, if selected as premium security by the Gimel ID
