Who can use Gimel ID?
Any natural person over the age of 18 can use Gimel ID. All you need for registration is your name, an email address and a password of your choice. For more information, please refer to our terms of use.
What are the service hours of the Gimel ID?
To contact Gimel ID’s customer service, please use the contact form. Typically, we will reply within 24 hours. Our service hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What do I have to pay for Gimel ID?
Gimel ID is free of charge for end users.
What do I do in an emergency, e.g., if my Gimel ID has been stolen?
To protect yourself as well as possible against password theft, you can activate multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your Gimel account. If your password and the second factor have fallen into the wrong hands, please block your Gimel account directly via the ‘Settings’ menu. If you require further assistance, please contact Gimel ID customer service.
Can I use Gimel ID globally?
In principle, the Gimel platform is accessible worldwide via the internet. However, the availability of the Gimel app is limited. The app can only be downloaded in countries where it is available in the respective country-specific app store/Google Play store. Regarding the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA), the use or service of Gimel ID may therefore be restricted. If you require further details on use outside Germany, please contact Gimel ID customer services.
How does Gimel ID earn money?
When a user transmits data from a Gimel ID profile to a partner company, Gimel ID receives a fee for transferring the data to the partner, depending on the verification level. As an identity platform, Gimel ID takes over the identification/verification of users for the partners.
What can I do if I haven’t received an activation email?

Please check your spam mails and, if necessary, also the trash folder in your e-mail program. If you do not find your activation mail, please try to register again after 48 hours.
