Multi-Factor-Authetication (MFA)

While Gimel ID upgrades your identity with means of a premium security protocol, the use of your identity as well as access control for your device is being supported by our multi-factor-authentication (MFA). Our MFA in connection with the Gimel Wallet or Bespoke G-Wallet can require alternative independent methods of authentication and access control. Here are brief summaries of the specific methods you can involve:

  • Facial recognition:
Description: Uses unique facial features for authentication
    Use: Unlocking devices, accessing applications
Security: Medium because facial features can be faked, e.g., by photos or masks
  • Fingerprint recognition:
Description: Analyses the somehow unique patterns of fingerprints
    Use: Access control, unlocking smartphones
Security: Medium, potentially vulnerable to physical replication
  • Iris Scan:
Description**: Uses patterns of the iris in the eye for identification
    Use: Higher-security areas, sensitive applications
Security: Higher, compared to 1) and 2)
  • NFC cards:
Description: Near Field Communication cards for identification by approaching a reader
    Use: Access control, contactless payments.
Security: Medium, card can be physically stolen or lost
  • Authenticator App:
Description: Generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) on your smartphone
Use: Additional protection for online accounts
Security: Higher, as the codes are updated regularly and used in addition to other methods for authentication and access control.

These methods offer different levels of security and are suitable for different use cases, from every-day to highly secure scenarios. Combining them significantly increases overall security.
