Passkey

The G-Agent, Gimel ID and its hosts (Gimel Wallet, its API as well as the Bespoke G-Wallet) are using Passkey, which is a modern method for secure login to online services that replaces passwords.

What is a Passkey?

  1. Request: A service or app sends a request to the Gimel ID (ot its hosting wallet, resp.) for authentication, i.e. the user is being challanged.
  2. Processing: The Gimel ID checks the requested data against the information stored in the wallet.
  3. Response: The Gimel ID returns a confirmation of the identity, i.e. answers with the right response (which only the right user/their wallet can produce) to the challenge, without disclosing any additional sensitive data.

Advantages:

  • Security: Passkeys cannot be phished like passwords, they are more secure
  • Convenience: you no longer have to remember complicated passwords
  • Simplicity: logging in is faster and easier
