What Gimel ID is
Gimel ID is the world`s most secure identity. It facilitates the Gimel open-source platform for secure identities and practical AI control. The following core assumptions underpin the Gimel ID proposition:
- The lack of proof of personhood represents a gap in both the digital as well as non-digital landscape that must be addressed. As to the digital realm, the capabilities of AI systems continue to advance, this requirement will become increasingly crucial.
- The introduction of scalable and inclusive proof of personhood for the first time allows all users to align their incentives around the addition of real humans to the solution.
- In the context of growing AI capabilities, the most reliable method for issuing a global proof of personhood is using custom hardware, leveraging DNA biometrics.
Gimel ID
The Gimel ID is a privacy-preserving proof of personhood. The system allows users to verify their identity online using a custom biometric device, the Gimel Device. The Gimel Device has been designed based on the understanding that bespoke biometric data may be the most sustainable long-term solution for AI-safe person verification. Gimel IDs are issued on the Gimel protocol, which enables individuals to prove their identity as a human to any verifier (also web2 applications) while maintaining their privacy through zero-knowledge proofs. It is anticipated that the protocol will be capable of issuing other types of credentials in the future.
The Gimel ID system is designed to ensure that each ID is used exclusively by the individual to whom it was issued. It should be extremely challenging for a third party to misuse the Gimel ID credentials they have obtained illegally.
Gimel Cloud
Gimel Cloud is the inaugural frontend to Gimel ID. It provides users with step-by-step guidance through the verification process with the Gimel Device, securely runs their Gimel ID credentials, and implements cryptographic protocols to share those credentials with third parties in a privacy-preserving manner. Its purpose is to provide seamless access to global decentralized identity and financial infrastructure. Next to offering the Gimel Wallet* or Bespoke G-Wallet, it is anticipated that there will be a significant number of wallets that will integrate Gimel ID API* in due course.
