Zero-Knowledge-Proof
With the zero-knowledge proof (ZKP), Gimel ID offers a method in which one party (the prover) can prove to another party (the verifier) that a statement is true without disclosing unnecessary information. In the context of the Gimel Wallet* and Bespoke G-Wallet, this can be particularly useful for ensuring user privacy and security.
Key applications of ZKP in the Gimel Wallet* as well as Bespoke G-Wallet:
- Privacy: Zero-knowledge proofs enable users to verify their identity without disclosing sensitive information. For example, a user can prove that they are old enough to use a particular service without disclosing their exact age.
- Security: Since no sensitive data is disclosed, the risk of data misuse and cyber attacks is reduced.
- Efficiency: ZKP can enable fast and efficient verifications, which is particularly important in systems with high data exchange.
Example: Imagine you want to use a digital identity in the Gimel Wallet* or Bespoke G-Wallet to open an online account. With a zero-knowledge proof, you can prove that you meet the required criteria (e.g. the minimum age) without disclosing your exact date of birth.
